Join Our Choir!
If you live in Elizabeth or the surrounding areas, you’re more than welcome to join us for our upcoming performance. Here’s what you need to know.
How do I join?
Send us an email, or come to a rehearsal in September or January to see if it is for you!
Do I have to audition?
No, and all are welcome. We are a true, community non-profit organization, and we’re glad to welcome you to “our chorus family.”
When are rehearsals?
Rehearsals are Sunday evenings at 6 p.m., and we’ll add the occasional Monday evening to the schedule closer to the concert. View our member calendar.
Where are rehearsals?
We generally rehearse at Bethesda United Presbyterian Church (314 South 3rd Avenue, Elizabeth). As we get closer to showtime, we may also rehearse in our performance venue.
When are the performances?
We host two concerts per year—a traditional Christmas concert before Thanksgiving and a “show choir-style” spring concert in early May.
What is the commitment?
You must attend at least 50 percent of rehearsals in a concert season to perform in the upcoming concert.
How much does it cost?
There is a $20 fee for new members. For existing members, dues for each concert season are $10. This helps to cover the cost of the music and other operational costs of the group.
Are there opportunities for solos, duets, etc?
Absolutely! The director will announce solo auditions during the first few rehearsals.
Can children join?
Yes! And if enough children enroll, we will feature them in a special children’s choir.
I’m not a singer, but are there other opportunities to get involved?
Absolutely! Friends and family of the chorus are able to volunteer their time and talents behind the scenes. We always need volunteers to run our concerts, work backstage, bake, etc. Ask how you can help!
